Cannes Critics' Week

Cannes Film Festival's "La Semaine de la Critique" will début for the first time in Cairo during the week of September 16th - September 21st
Organized by: Zawya, Cimatheque - Alternative Film Centre, and the Institut Français d'Egypte

Known for its challenging and often innovative programming, La Semaine de la Critique focuses on discovering new talent, showcasing first and second feature films by directors from all one the world. Formed by the French Union of Film Critics in 1962, the programme has in the past highlighted works by filmmakers as diverse as Bernardo Bertolucci, Ken Loach, Wong Kar-Wai, Arnaud Desplechin, and Alejandro González Iñárritu, amongst others

The selection premiering at the Cairene venues this fall will focus on works presented during
years 2010 through 2014, including 8 feature films, and a short film programme

Three films will screen everyday at 7.30 pm at 3 different venues:
Zawya: Behind Odeon cinema, 4 Abdel Hamid Said, Downtown, Cairo
Institut Français d'Egypte: 1 Madraset Al Hoqouq, Mounira, Cairo
Karim Cinema: 15 Emad El Din, Downtown, Cairo
