Abdelhamid Said Collection

Abdelhamid Said worked in the Egyptian Film Center under the “Arts Sector” of the Ministry of Culture in starting in the 50s.  He is the first historically to be recorded for suggesting, initiating and heading an Egyptian national film archive.  He is also one of the founding members of “Nady el Cinema” (cinema club) as well as a prominent member in the Egyptian Film Critics Association. Said’s collection was acquired by Cimatheque in 2011 and it includes: 

  • Over 2,200 books (Arabic-English-some French/German)

  • Hundreds of culture-related magazines from 50s and 60s Egypt 

  • Over a thousand items of older archival campaign booklets

  • Press kits 

  • Satirical newspapers

  • Pamphlets

  • Posters
