Since May 2021, Cimatheque is holding an open call for volunteers titled “Bringing an Archive to Life.”  Bringing an archive to life: an open call for archiving volunteers | فرصة للتدريب في مجال الأرشيف | Facebook.  We were delighted to have 200 applicants of which we could train around 100 so far.   

The volunteer program at Cimatheque is designed to train younger generations in the basic skills involved in print and film archive preservation. The training teaches volunteers the necessary workflows required for processing any print collections. They started with inventorying Cimatheque’s collection of English and Arabic books. So far our volunteers have finished inventorying over 500 foreign language books and are diligently working on our Arabic cinema library collection.  A small committed and dedicated group have also begun training in film inspection.
