Think:Film – A Double Screen Projection

Think:Film – A Double Screen Projection

In 2014 the Think:Film Award was presented as part of thr Forum Expanded program at the Berlin International Film Festival for the first time. The award, which is given out in cooperation with Allianz Cultural Foundation, recognizes a work, which uses its medium to reflect geopolitical localizations, broaden the space of aesthetic experience and facilitate changes of perspective. As part of the prize, the awarded film or installation is presented at Arsenal and at at Cimatheque in Cairo. The first year's winner is Amie Siegel's PROVENANCE. The film follows the global trade furniture built for the modernist city Chandigarh, designed by Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret. It traces the furniture all the way to its source by showing every step in it's global itinerary in reversed order: from the sale at auction to its restauration to its departure from India to destinations overseas. In 2013 Siegel in turn put PROVENANCE up for auction at Christies in London. The short film LOT 248, shown as a companion piece, captures the event.
