Color Grading Workshop with Jorge Piquer Rodriguez
Cimatheque – Alternative Film Centre is now accepting applications for its Color Grading Workshop, which will take place from August 2nd to August 6th, 2021. 6 to 8 participants will be selected to take part in a 5 days intensive workshop providing them with an artistic and technical insight into the main stages of color grading, through theoretical lessons and practical training which will be applied on visual materials brought by the participants.
This programme is targeted mainly at colorists, but also cinematographers, editors and VFX Artists. It will be mentored by Jorge Piquer Rodriguez (Spain/Belgium).
The workshop aims at giving its participants the skills to apply their creative visions while using modern technologies, through :
- Working on the best way to deal with Importing the material, proxies and then exports.
- Working on exposure and contrast
- Working on the picture colors
- Mastering the material and digital restoration
The last day of the workshop will be hands on the participants' projects.
The workshop requires availability of 8 hours daily, will be conducted in English and mandates participants to bring visual materials to work on.
Workshop fees for the accepted Participants: 1000 LE.
Jorge Piquer Rodriguez - Almeria, Spain (1984)
A colorist, cinematographer and filmmaker based in Brussels, Belgium. After graduating from art school in Valencia, Spain, he started working on different film projects, collaborating with various filmmakers to explore and create a specific visual world for their productions.
Over the past 10 years, he co-founded "La Ignorancia" (a dance, film, and music production company) and worked with producers from Spain, Belgium, Germany, Estonia, France, Portugal, Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt, making short films, television ads, documentaries, and feature films as a cinematographer, DIT and/or colorist, working with analogue and digital formats.
He has built a strong working relationship with filmmakers such as Marcin Malaszczak, director of "Swienaka”, “Orbitalna", and, "The Days Run Away Like Wild Horses Over the Hills”, all of which were screened at Berlinale Film Festival
